Privacy policy
Last updated 6 August 2026
The Private Schools Association of Jammu & Kashmir (“PSAJK”, “we”, “us”) is the data fiduciary for the personal information described here. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have — across this website, the member portal, and the PSAJK mobile app for iOS and Android (together, the “services”).
We handle personal data in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules made under it.
Information we collect
Visitors to this website
You can read every public page — circulars, news, and association information — without giving us anything. This site sets no cookies, runs no advertising, and uses no third-party analytics or tracking scripts. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser user agent, requested page, timestamp) for security and reliability.
Circular alerts
If you enter an email address in the subscribe box, that address is sent to our office inbox so we can add you to the circular alerts list. We use it only to send association circulars and notices, and you can ask us to remove you at any time.
Membership applications
Schools applying for membership provide institutional and contact details — school name and address, UDISE and recognition details, the name, phone number, and email of the principal or authorised representative, and any documents uploaded in support of the application.
Member portal and mobile app
- Account details — your name, email address, phone number, and the member school you are linked to.
- Records you create — issues raised, meeting responses, survey answers, fee records, and similar entries submitted through the portal or app.
- Session data — a login token stored securely on your device so you stay signed in. Signing out removes it.
- Push notification token — if you allow notifications, the app registers a device push token with us so we can deliver circular and meeting alerts. We store the token against your account and delete it when you sign out or turn notifications off. It cannot be used to read anything on your device.
The app does not collect your location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and it contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
How we use this information
- To operate the association's membership register and process applications.
- To publish circulars, government orders, and news, and to notify members about them.
- To organise meetings, surveys, drives, and member support, and to respond to issues raised.
- To communicate with member schools on association matters.
- To keep the services secure, prevent misuse, and meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Who we share it with
We disclose personal information only in these situations:
- Service providers that run the platform on our behalf — hosting and cloud infrastructure, email delivery, and the push notification services operated by Expo, Apple (APNs), and Google (FCM). They may process data only on our instructions.
- Government departments, where a member school has asked us to represent it, or where disclosure is required by law, court order, or a lawful request from an authority.
- Association office bearers and staff, on a need-to-know basis, to carry out the purposes above.
How long we keep it
Membership and application records are retained for as long as the school is a member and afterwards for as long as our constitution, accounting, or legal obligations require. Alert subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Push tokens are deleted on sign-out or when the device stops accepting notifications. Server logs are retained for a short period for security purposes.
How we protect it
Traffic to our sites and app is encrypted in transit over HTTPS. Portal access is restricted by login, and session tokens are held in the device's secure storage. Access to member records is limited to authorised office bearers and staff. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data.
Children's privacy
The services are intended for school administrators, staff, and the general public — not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this website or the app. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
You may ask us to:
- confirm what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy of it;
- correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date;
- erase information we no longer need for the purposes described above;
- withdraw consent you previously gave — for example, to circular alerts or push notifications.
Write to us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable period. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it, and some records must be retained where the law requires.
Links to other sites
Our pages link to government portals, news reports, and social media accounts we do not control. This policy does not cover those sites — please read their own privacy notices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the services change or the law requires. The revision date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced through a circular.
